I'll guess reamers ('lapping' tools?) for valve seats in engine block cylinder heads?
From the size I would say they are for reaming out bearings that have failed. Probably used in a machine shop.
Gunsmith tools? Too big.
Definitely valve seat cutters for an engine.
Way too much angle for any engine valves.
BB2 I thought I was the only one who noticed that.
Fhr, I was an aircraft inspector. Think about that next time you fly.
Between the 2 0f 'em there looks like 4 different available 'tapers' for whatever they were intended to cut. My 'valve seat' guess only based on their apparent approx. size, plus that they seem to be somehow 'reversible' cutters on their shafts (or maybe not, if the 'shafts' are instead 4 separate pieces which simply screw into either side of each cutter blade?) Also on 2nd look at your pics, none of the 'shafts' (whether 2 or 4 pieces ea. and no matter how they attach to the 'cutters') look like they're particularly finely machined things either...?
L.O. Beard Tool Company. Lancaster Pennsylvania. Cylinder head valve cutters. A few of these and other tools they made on eBay.
Maybe for valves, but I doubt for cyl. heads on internal combustion. I would think the valves would burn easily & gap would have to be checked every 20 hrs. running time.
the cutters with the steeper angle are for narrowing the valve seats after cutting the 45 degree angle. for the valve face seat.
I considered that, but those are usually only a few degrees diff. from the actual seat on either side. Just don't think they are for internal combustion.
check this e-bay page for New Way valve seat cutters. https://www.ebay.com/i/123109525002?chn=ps
