Love old boxes and this one was a gift from a young family with a few other pieces they allowed me to have. Their French grandfather was a collector and a Paris flea market shopper.
His estate people filled several boxes with his treasures, the younger generation had no idea what they had, and I helped identify a dining room table full of pieces, with the more valuable picked and photographed with their maker's marks.
As you can see it is gilded copper metal, very worn, with another layer of decorative filigree with applied decoration made with wire and enamel. The center of the lid has the Yin-Yan symbol.
About 4 inches wide and 1.5 inch high. Not marked.
Beautiful filigree box, love the horse and yin-yang on lid
that's a beauty!

apostata,
My reply meant I believe you and I agree with you. I felt it was special too when I got it, it was very tarnished, so I cleaned it up on the top which is silver filigree. Take care.
