This is kind of a funny Ebay UK purchase, when I wanted several items from this seller, UK shipping happens to be one of the more expensive to Canada, so I try to save by buying more than one item at a time.
The listings were all auction types, no 'buy it now', I bid on three, and ended up with one. The more I looked at this mug the more familiar it became, till I realised it's one of those porcelain blank shapes that were really popular with the lady's hobby clubs. Something I have collected as well, and then sell, and then find more. Very happy when it arrived yesterday, it is in excellent condition.
I already had one which was a Japanese geisha motif inspiration with parasols, this one also has much gilding, worn off, and a name MRS. D. If you are lucky you also get a year, which is usually between 1900 and 1910.
The last picture also shows a pretty orange and black feather bird painted on a mug with a gold base, not marked. With a small hand painted figurine of the same bird, in bisque marked JAPAN.
These mugs are about 5.5 to 6 inches high, a super big morning coffee cup, or some call them a beer stein.
Beautiful mugs, I esp love the pretty bird image
Thank you for all the loves CW members, greatly appreciated. Always.
