Last night I decided to revisit the old photographs my amazing late mom collected during her life. I knew they were old and interesting. As I dug into their history, etc. I discovered this photo with a Brady stamp in the lower left corner. Brady was a civil war photographer who photographed Lincoln.
These are only about 1350 of these existing and finding one is near impossible. I’ve had it this whole time tucked away. Unreal.
There are also some other interesting images such as a mother and child. Apparently children are rare in these types of photographs because they had to sit for up to 30 minutes. I also have photos that have the lineages written on the paper with their parents were, dates of birth and death. All these photographs are from around 18:50
Beautiful woman and image!
Brady was fairly prolific-- his studio work is desirable.
By the mid 1850s posing times were minimal.
Good to see another photo collector-- would love to see more of what you have.
