I don't see any markings on this old belt buckle but it sure does look as primitive as can be. I do not have any history on it as it was a thrift store purchase.
If you know how to tell if a belt buckle is old or not, please give me some input.
I guess my questions are, is it old and does anyone know this type of belt buckle?
I added a photo of the new Boy Scout belt that I found this buckle on at the thrift store.
I would seriously doubt this being a belt buckle. Look at picture #1, the center rod is worn almost completely through. When did a belt buckle ever do that? This has seen lots of movement to wear it that thin. I might believe something like a saddle cinch or similar but not a belt buckle.
Interesting thought, thank you so much, fhrjr2.
That is what I was going to say, saddle buckle or something of the sort. Still a nice example with the design. Thanks for posting.
