This vase, when sitting next to my Loetz PN III-355 in ‘dunkelblau’ is an identical shade of blue, and the enameling is the very same shade of creamy-white. Although one is done in a more modern and stylized manner, and this one in an older style of a more naturalistic spray of flowers, I am quite sure this piece is also by Loetz. It has a very finely cut and polished rim, and the glass is a lovely quality.
I believe it is a series three production (PN III) and could be PN III-164. It is very close to the shape of a PN III-164 tango vase I have seen, and also to an image shown on a Loetz ad for cut glass that is also noted as being shape 164 (lower right corner). (The image of the ad for Loetz cut glass is from Dr. Kai Hasselbach’s article, here: https://www.loetz.com/featured-articles/a-study-of-loetz-cut-glass-production)
My vase measures 5-3/4” (14.6cm) tall by 5-5/8” (14.3 cm) wide, so is a quite a nice size. I love Loetz’s transparent pieces, and am very pleased to be able to add this one to my collection.
It has a delicate beauty, I think. And you have a knack for finding less often seen Welz treasures!
Thanks so much, Peggy! :)
