Here is an old 48 Star American Flag I picked up last week. It is approximately 5' x7'. The flag has stitched stars and solid brass hoists. I have no idea of where the flag came from or where it may have flown. Just a really neat piece I would like to frame it but that would command a large space to hang it. Just thought I would share.

    Thanks for looking

I happen to be with the American Legion, and among other things we accept unservicable flags for proper disposal. In the half dozen years I've been receiving flags for disposal, I've gotten two 48-star flags. You'd think the people getting rid of them would notice and hold on to them. Of course I didn't destroy them, and they are still in the storage room down at the Legion post.

Wow, Chrisnp!!! I have one of these, from a garage sale in Miami. Couple of bucks, back in 1990-91. I love mine, and can't believe someone would send a piece of history over for disposal!!!
      Great flag, TAman!

Just so you know it is proper to destroy American flags that are no longer serviceable, that is not a mandate but some folks have no means of keeping them from more damage. I would say (just me) that in order for it to be a piece of history a flag would have needed to have flown at a special event or in a special place and include documentation......Please remember that a lot of flags were made and sold, I'd much rather see one turned in than just tossed into the trash......

      I stand corrected, Pop!

I love that old flag. Looks "battle ridden"...I would have that framed for sure!
