Interesting story! This was an unmarked 14K seven diamond princess ring from a Virginia Beach estate.
My bid was $170 an much to my surprise, I won the bidding! I was excited until.....I handled the ring and noted it besieged underneath with what looked like caked hardened mud. Needless to say I was a bit depressed over what appeared to be a dud purchase. At home, I proceeded to soak the ring in soapy warm water for a few days and eventually the guck came loose with a soft toothbrush. Turned out with inspection I was the “new” proud owner of an antique Art Deco European multi-diamond.
Not only that, but one of the diamonds has a garnet/ ruby inclusion which I am told is extremely rare!
So for all of you collectors out there keep the faith! There is more to winning the lottery than the lottery! And word to wise!
Never rule out a piece of jewelry simply because it’s not marked/stamped. It c/b your ticket!
