This pretty glass candle holder rests in a heavy decorative metal holder The metal holder is unmarked, but the smooth glass base is embossed with a "Duraglas" script, followed by alone "l" beneath, without a diamond or circle. Also absent are date and plant codes. "PROP OF VALLEY CANDLE CO. INC" and "PAT APP FOR" encircle the proprietary marks. I have yet to run across any examples of the "l" not enclosed by either a diamond or circle, nor have any of my searches turned up any other such candleholders, so I can only guess that the window of production for the glass is between 1940 and late-1950s, based on the "Duraglas" script. The attractive design elements of both the glass and the metal holder have weathered the years well, and I envision a candlight setting surrounded by fresh flowers. Thank you for visiting.
