This pretty handle vase, therefore a jug, stands 14.6 cm. and is made of white underlaid clear glass (body) and black tinted glass (plinth and handle), which presentes a hardly visible fine violet shimmer specially at the joints. I suppose it can be described as a sample of tango glass. The lower part of the base with a polished pontil.

The wall is decorated with two different kinds of stylized flowers (Ausführung 170. Thanks Michelleb007 and Bohemianglassandmore!). This type of decor on Loetz's tango glass is often attributed to Dagobert Peche. I don't know, as the painters of this decor are sometimes named Wilms, father and son - I cannot remember where I read this information. In my next posting I'm going to show a bowl with very similar decor but with different flower types, which are more likely Peche's.

Very nice - I don’t think the pitchers are seen very often, either!

Hi Lichnowsky, in recent months I have done a bit more looking into this decor, and found a great post by Warren Galle about this decor being a Wilms design that I think you'd like to see. You can find it here: https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/135877-loetz-ausfhrung-170-vase-wilms-decor

As he states, "According to Loetz Bohemian Glass 1880-1940 (Cantz), many of the variations of painted flowers in black or color stem from the father/son team of Franz and Otto Wilms. After 1914, their painting reflects the influence of Dagobert Peche's designs. Page 262, plate 221 shows a pedestal bowl in the same type of decoration as the vase posted here. It defines Ausführung 170 as "white opal with flowers".

      Thanks for posting yours! :)

Thanks a lot Michelleb007 for your nice and very interesting informations you have given here! Well, I have the Lötz monographic book published by Prestel, and several other on Bohemian glass, but maybe I should try to get de one by Cantz...

I've just read the recomended post by Mr. Galle, I agree with you, it's great.

Thank you for your friendly remarks which will allow me to correct and update my posts.

      Best regards!
