I recently purchased a mahogany desk that I am trying to date. It has beautiful flame grain, I pulled that gliders off the feet to put on Teflon ones and found that they have a patent date of April 1923. This lock is in the middle drawer and says Eagle Lock Co surrounding a circle with a capital E. I haven't been able to find anyone who can date it. Any suggestions?

Hi, I am looking at buying a very similar looking desk, did you find out anything about the manufacturer on this?

When you say you took the "gliders" off, are you talking about metal disk type caps or casters with wheels?
    3. Tmarch1659, 5 years ago
The gliders are the metal disk caps, the patent info is on the inside, so can't be seen until they are taken off. Any info would be great as I haven't gotten any. It is a really nice desk and I really thought that the lock would give up some information, but, no.

I did end up buying the desk, exact same as yours except it's walnut. The inside of the drawers are stamped 1121 making me believe is was made in November 1921. Keep in touch and please let me know if you discover anything else about it.

There are no markings or manufacturer stamps anywhere on the desk?
    6. Tmarch1659, 5 years ago
The only marking I found is under the middle drawer and there is a label that looks like it was varnished on that only says "No. 8" I looked everywhere, that is why I was hoping to date it by the lock.
    7. ksinc, 5 years ago
Yes, mine has "no. 33" stamped on the bottom.

And you haven't been able to find anything either? Did yours have the metal sliders on the feet?
    9. ksinc, 5 years ago
Yes, mine has the metal sliders. I haven't been able to find out anything else about the desk.

I posted some pictures of my desk here: https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/275779-antique-partners-desk

I have the exact same Mahogany desk as Tmarch1659 including the eagle lock. However, I have some additional wooden trim on the rear of the desktop about 3" high which was used to adhere a name plate on the front side. I'll post some photos by the end of the week.

I added some photos at the above link. This desk has a #3 on the bottom of the center drawer.
