The three items of this post are all décorated by a fine 'Persian' decor of tiny gilded tendrils arround some enamelled white heart like centres. The Persian style became popular in the 1880-90's by the pioneering works of Brocard, Lobmeyr and later by Galle, too. The two darke brown cased vases show the strong influence of Persian shapes, the colour is known from 'Octopus', 'Columbia', 'Onyx' and other Loetz décors. Often 'Octopus' vases are found with this décor and it is believed, that the brown variant is named 'Victoria'. The expressive brass mount fits the bottom of the smaller vase exactly. Both vases are blown from top and do not have a polished pontil. The bowl is the first 'Carneol' piece, I found, being décorated by this décor. The two vases are H=18.5 and 25 cm, the bowl is D=30x23.5 cm.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. What is the difference between décor Persian and décor Indian? Indian has also light blue in addition to white centers?

      Dear Ales,
I don't think, that there is a difference in the type of décor, but only in the naming applied to it lateron. As far as I know, the original naming is yet unknown.

I would add and Ales can confirm that the brown vases also have a unique shimmer to them. It reminds me of the new paint that they are using on black cars now. It's like a dusting of sparkles.
