      No 'superior knowledge' here -- just a guess -- but it looks like something that'd be handy to a blacksmith/metalworker...?? :-)

      maybe I should have mentioned -- this thing weighs about 2 lbs. Notice also that the pointy end is not dome-shaped - more like a teepee & does not appear to have been used to strike anything (not scuffed or abraded like the other end). Thanks

      The pointed tip makes me think this may be an emergency hammer for breaking out automobile windows.
      I have a smaller, newer version of an emergency hammer in my car....so if my car is sinking in the river and the doors won’t open, electronics are out, I can break out a window and escape, providing I remember I have it. ;-)

      Maybe this version is made for first responders to quickly get into a vehicle.
