They are 8.5" high x 6.5" long x 4.5" wide and each weighs just under 5 lbs. No maker marks. They are hollow, but still thick glass. Lots of straw marks, but no bubbles. There are mold lines running from their beaks to their tails. GW find today. They were put on the shelf while I was standing about six feet away. I repressed the urge to climb over the GW employee to get them and in a very civilized manner, I waited until he stepped away from them. Such restraint!

The molds these were made from were owned by the K. (Kenneth) & R. (Ruben) Haley Glassware Company. Whether they were made for Haley Glassware or made by Kemple who purchased some Haley molds is not certain.

    Information on K. & R. Haley Glassware:

    More information about Ruben Haley:

According to the link below, Kemple used antique molds to make milk and colored glass reproductions. Kemple sold some of their molds to the Wheaton Historical Association (WHA) in 1970 and they made reproductions in a variety of colors but clear crystal is not listed. The link below suggests that the WHA marked their pieces and there are no marks on these. Lots of room for error here, though, I think. Calling them Haley/Kemple, unless I found something the support changing that.

I found two listings, one for Kemple, and one for Paden City. The Paden City looks more like yours kwqd, they're clear. This is how the Kemple one is listed:
Kemple #244 Milk Glass 8" Fighting Cock Head Down Rooster Chicken Figurine
Both are on ebay. I didn't look it up in my Paden City Book yet, but maybe TallCakes knows! :^D I hope this helps a little! :^)

Thanks for the clues billretirecoll and TallCakes. I believe the Paden City roosters are solid.

Looks like they were probably made by Kemple Glass Co.

Thanks for loving my probably Kemple roosters Jenni, MALKEY, vetraio50 and billretirecoll!

I found it Kevin(kwqd), it's Haley Glass Crystal, Kemple Glass Co. purchased Haley's Molds, and made Amber, Milk Glass, and other colors of Roosters, in the 1940s-50s in Ohio, and through the 1970's after they moved to W. Virginia. Paden City is almost identical but solid!
I got this information from Glass Animals second edition by Dick and Pat Spencer.
I hope this is it! To me the Paden City Mold, has a more rounded Come on the Rooster besides being solid! :^)

      Very beautiful rooster bookends!!!!
    10. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 5 years ago
That should be Comb, and the Roosters were also made by Kemple Glass in Crystal also, to the 1970's! :^)

Thanks billretirecoll! I agree, the Paden City rooster's comb is different. So these may be Haley or Kemple?

Thanks for loving my roosters jscott0363!

      HI,
I have a pair that look like this. They are solid though. There are no markings indicating a maker. Any thoughts. FYI I found these in a house that my husband was flipping.

Welcome to CW slwarner! I believe that Paden City Glass of West Virginia made roosters like this that were solid glass. If you post some images of your roosters, you might get a more authoritative response!
