Because this set has multi color rhinestones and a burst design it reminds me of fireworks. In actuality it is probably a sea anemone (the goldtone has a pebbly texture) or else sputnik, either were popular vintage designs. Brooch measures 3", clip earrings are 1 3-4" and signed. By Les Bernard (1936-1996)
Happy Fourth of July everyone!
Happy Fourth, Jenni! It does resemble a firework :)
Gosh, this is a really beautiful set. I love this company, but rarely, rarely find anything by them. Lucky you! Happy 4th!
The sparkly colorful tips and long spines do make it perfectly like fireworks!
But as a sea creature, it looks like a sea urchin.
(Sea anemones have a mouth opening visible on the center top, surrounded by tentacles whereas the sea urchin’s mouth is located on the bottom out of sight, with just their evenly spaced spines covering their bodies....just a friendly clarification on sea life). ;-)
But that aside, it’s a lovely brooch and so right for July 4th celebrations!
Thanks everyone for the July 4th wishes and love

Thanks so much Ken for the super compliments & great 4th wishes, hope you had a great day. You know I love to do holiday posts, and this set had all the fireworks type design yet knew it was probably anemones, it's pretty but was a bit hard for me to classify
Hope your 4th was wonderful and fun MrsT, thanks for your nice comment & seeing the firework angle on this
Eileen I'm so delighted you enjoyed this piece, I too love the pastel rhinestones at the ends & yes it was great to get the earrings too, particularly as they have the Bernard mark where the brooch doesn't. Hope you had a super 4th & truly appreciate the lovely praise
Thank you Maureen for the wonderful compliments, I was very surprised to find this Bernard set in such good condition as many of his have not stood up well over time, especially the figurals. I have one little bull pin by him that was quite pricey for the size (under 1") for a future post, he was very original with his designs & I love his stuff too
Watchsearcher thank you so much for describing the real sea urchins, I have seen them on TV docs & in photos but never knew their physiology, I totally appreciate it! Thank you for enjoying these pieces & the kind compliments, and hope you had a fabulous 4th
Thanks keramikos for liking my sea anemones and yes, some people are baffled by what they are but you see them alot in jewelry (also sputniks which can confusingly have a similar shape). Thank you for the kind July 4th wishes and hope you had a fun day & saw some real fireworks!
Thanks Mary for the super comment and love, glad you agree it resembles a firework. Very cool that you visited with Elisabethan in Sweden, it must be beautiful there this time of year and please tell us about your three week vacay, lucky you! Wish I could sleep thru the local fireworks but they were right under our window this yr, I don't mind seeing them at an event or on TV but could do without the late night blasting - next yr we take a hotel overnight :)
This one is so detailed- it seems to have lots of little detailed pieces to it and reminds me more of an anemone or at least something else that lives under the sea. Its got those little spiny legs on them that duck in as soon as it detects a current from something swishing by, :)
Thank you Lauren for the wonderful comment and the love, I'm really glad you liked this and I think I will definitely go with the consensus that it's a sea anemone, the designer did give it that undersea look and it's nice to picture it moving about in the ocean :)
love the design!
Thanks lentilka for the super comment and love, really glad you enjoyed this piece
Thanks jb and getthatmonkeyout for the love and appreciation, I am humbly grateful :)
Thank you Hoot for the always thoughtful love and support, I'm glad you enjoyed this fireworks type set, it is great to wear at New Year's which will be here before we know it!
