This vintage 1 1-4" gold wash sterling pin has the Navy Seabees (CB, for Construction Battalion) logo of a worker bee in sailor's hat firing a tommy gun, with a rope & anchor frame. From the 40s-50s but design still being reproduced today
Remembering our veterans who fought for our freedom this Independence Day

Thanks Ken for the lovely sentiment, yes I wanted to put something up to remember our "freedom fighters" and this pin has special meaning as my dad was a Navy man in Korea
Thank you MrsT, it is in pretty good shape for its age with only a little scrape across the front, the shiny cobalt center is really nice I think
Right Eileen, it's nice to remember what the 4th of July means to America, we all know down deep that we have it good here and often take things for granted because we grew up in a free country. Thank you my friend for the sensitive words, and I hope we are all enjoying bbqs and fireworks too!
Happy 4th of July to you too Purvis, many thanks for the good wishes & enjoy the day
I love the weirdness of this image- it's completely zany and cookie featuring a bee in a sailor cap firing a tommy gun, who would think of such a thing?! But it's great! ;)
I know Lauren, you wonder who would dream up this image it's rather complex, with the bee firing a machine gun! But I think it was designed around WW2 and the service guys then needed some comic relief, if you look at those old war planes they often had humorous and/or sexy images on them to lighten the seriousness of fighting. Great comment as always & thank you 4 the luv too
Thanks keramikos for the great comment and link, I'm always very interested in WW2 history and the Seabees were really a great unit, John Wayne made a fab movie about them. Nice that they made an updated anniversary logo but kept the basic gunner bee design
Thanks guys for the great love & support
