I just got my first Mercur- a Norma variant with a peculiar orange tint inside and on the rim, pontil, 4.25" [pics. 1,2,3]. Luckily, I already had the same shape in Ast glass [Last picture].

      Glad you like this vase!

One note about the pattern number...I posit that these are miniature patterns.
PN II-551 appears to be a miniature of the Mercur vase you have. One might assume that the full sized pattern is older, but I could not find it. The drawing may be one of them that was lost.

Beautiful pieces. From the photo, the second vase seems a little bigger.
Ast glass vase could be PN II-739 (see:

I agree about the possible size disparity in photo 4. It also looks to be a different shape (vase on right has rounder base?) - is that just a trick of the photo? I am trying to understand more, Is there a difference?

Gentlemen: I no longer understand or even trust Loetz decor names and/or PN's.

Wow22-no, I think the shape is the same. I had the Mercur vase and it depended on if you were looking straight at a dimple or not. If it was turned to the side it appeared less rounded because of the distortion of the round base by pushing the glass inward to make a dimple.

Lovely Merkur example! As Ales mentioned, your Astglass is documented in PN II-739 as your vase matches the size and decor name, "Orange Astglass", in the production notes. Your Merkur matches the size listed for PN II-880 and is likely this PN but the notes are not complete. Congratulations, both are very nice Loetz examples.
