This helmet was sitting in the back of my local antique store collecting dust and waiting for my arrival. I was hesitant about buying this helmet because I thought some kid went town on it with paint. Usually the helmets I've seen in movies eg. Saving Private Ryan etc. The helmets have rank insignias made of some kind of metal not paint. Either way I think its pretty Cool even it's a Dud.
Does anyone know what these 2x pin dents are? I Dont think they are bullet dents.

Looks like that may have belonged to a captain. The two white marks in front may have been added later but it could be a legit rank mark.

I don't remember ever seeing an edge rolled like this on a U.S. helmet, but what do I know ? The German style helmet was the best design & used around the world by other countries. The U.S. couldn't stand that & started promoting their style (probably by intimidation) so they didn't have to keep seeing the German style & the stigma it carried. This might very well be one of those & possibly made in another country to appease the Americans.
