I've always loved these but never expected to find one I could buy......but here I am.
Online I found the collection of Richard Rush, and amongst many, this same punch bowl shape (different silhouettes) was identified as;
Schale Adolf Beckart (Entwurf)
Fachschule Steinschonau um 1915
The gilding on the rim is worn and there are two small flaws, but more than made up for by the vivacity of the figures depicted in the frieze. Paintwork is on the outside. The panels between frieze and base look to be hand work.....the edges seem far too crisp for a mould.
Diameter 18.5 cm./7.25 inches Height 10.5 cm/4 inches
What a fantastic piece! It is elegant, fun and beautiful at the same time! What a great find sklo42. So is this czech glass, sorry but I have no knowledge in glas.
In 1915 the factory was in Bohemia, a province of the Austro Hungarian Empire, ruled by the Hapsburgs. After the Peace Treaty Of Versailles, which decided the terms and conditions of the ending of WWI, the factory would have found itself in Czechoslovakia. Long after the creation of Czechoslovakia some Glass Manufacturers continued to market their production as Bohemian Glass as it had a reputation for quality.
Awesome bowl, the figures are so lively & fascinating, you could watch them endlessly & see different stories - a really wonderful find, congrats
I agree, Newfld, all human life is there!
Yes, MsCrystalShip, it was a wonderful find for me, but that's glass collecting. You never know what will turn up next :)
Utterly charming!
And another one coming......but isn't that collecting!
I'd not seen or heard of this glass before. It's wonderful. Thank you for posting.
