I normally just collect the GI Joe military era sets but when I come across an Adventure Team set I like at a good price I am all in. In toy collector lingo I found this in the wild. That means not eBay or some other online source. In other words found it in person live IRL etc. Found it with what is seen in photo #2. The other pieces I already had including the pygmy gorilla. Hasbro made their animals for the Adventure Team series on the small side as they figured kids would imagine them bigger which they did.
The M1 Carbine aka the rifle seen in photo #2 did not come with the set. The rifle with scope being held by the Joe did. It is molded in brown plastic with a gold painted scope and barrel. Later it was molded in black with no paint.
The set was sold from 1970-1974. In 1973 the boat came with a non-working motor so this set is from 1970-1972. The 1970s were not a friendly time for toys. The large action figures were all extinct by the end of the decade.
In photos #3 and 4 the net has been cast around the pygmy gorilla thus it is captured. Not sue why it needed capturing as I dod not have the comic that comes with the set but I am certain it was a good reason. Probably to save it from a volcano re some such.
What I'd have given to have your GI Joe accessories as a kid. Very cool find!!
Thank you very much Scott. I would loved to have them too.
Thank you

I think the capture net just ticked off Mr. Gorilla even more...be careful Mr. GI Joe....
Thank you very much buckethead. Luckily the pygmy gorilla is fairly docile.
