Hello CraigMcpherson, and welcome to CW! Very nice piece of Jewelry that you have. If you drag the last photo to the first photo, or reverse the order of them, you might get more visitors, and some information on this Beauty! :^)

Here's a link to a site that might help:

      https://www.carters.com.au/index.cfm/index/6050-satsuma-japan-jewellery/

It looks like your Jewelry is Satsuma, so maybe a start? :^)

Ok check this Belt Buckle out on this sold Ruby Lane post:

      https://www.rubylane.com/item/768150-20959/Antique-Fine-Japanese-Satsuma-Hand-painted

Scroll down to the bottom to see the Buckle, and check out the Mark on the back of it, it looks the same as yours, plus the post has a lot of information about it! I hope this helps to answer some of your questions on your Jewelry! :^)

That mark is the crest of the Shimazu, the family that ruled the Satsuma domain until 1947 when the aristocratic system was abolished. On earthenware, that crest is a sort of seal of quality. It is worth noting that, like the Xuande mark and engeltjestin, the mark has been forged as well as added without meaning because it was simply assumed that mark belongs on Satsumaware.

The photos are a tad blurry, but I do think this is real, because I've never seen or heard of Satsumaware jewelry that is not.

On another note, OP, you have titled this as "unknown Japanese jewellery", which to me sounds like you also don't know what type of jewelry this is (necklace, bracelet, brooch, etc.) Is this true or am I mistaken?

Thank you all for the informative information on this item. You are correct I know only what I have written above and would love to be able to get back to my parents with as much news as possible to let them know what has been passed onto them. They have so many items collected by my great grand father and mother. Thank you again to you all for you links and advice.
