In the Loetz book of paper patterns (Series II), there are several mentions of lamp shades in "Elfenbein (ivory) phänomen innen Silber (interior silver iridescence). In the last few years, it has become apparent that for some of these shades, there are closely matching bowls and/or vases. I am unable to determine what the genre number for this vase is, but it is clearly one of these later ivory phänomen or ausführung genre pieces. The ivory colored uranium glass ground is covered in a field of iridescent oil spots, with five "flames" of vivid red, silver, and gold rising from the bottom. The interior is highly iridescent. This same ivory glass ground is found on the lamp shade shown in the last photo, which is Elfenbein phänomen genre innen Silber (Gre 7211). As you can see, they exhibit the same vivid green glow under long wave UV light. It has the usual fire polished rim, and ground and polished pontil. Height is about 16.5 cm.

I think you're right about the existence of matching vases and shades! After I found my elfenbein shade innen silber in Gre 2409, I recall having seen a vase also in same decor. If I find it again, I will post!

      Hi Warren,

Is this a PN III-3857? I see it lists various colors and krosel irisiert

Hi, Jill - I did see it- apart from the size difference, III-3857 has a cut rim, and based on the descriptions of the decors listed, these are pieces in semi-transparent glass (rauchamethyst, saphir) internally decorated with multi-color frit. I would love to find one of these some day - they sound very interesting.
