Two snake vases by Rindskopf have come into my life recently, one with an applied leaf, which I think is a bit different. I have one other similar, bought many years ago when I didn't know much about this type of glass. Pleased to welcome more of it!
Both are made from cased glass in an indefinable yellowy - greenish - grey hue, with a surface of iridescent spatter. The glass contains uranium & glows under UV light. They both have applied snakes, one with the rather curious addition of a green leaf.
The vases measure 14.5 cm tall, 3 cm across their cut top rims, & 6 cm across the bases.
Pictured among the daffodils that have just started to pop up in my lawn.
Beautiful! It's not obvious in the photos that they're uranium. Love their iridescence.
Obvious that it's winter down under though! - great pair, and lucky pair as a find!
Many thanks, Vintagefran - yes, the colour is subtle & doesn't exactly "scream" about its uranium content, but under UV light the glow is intense. I'll have to do a black light photo of them sometime.
Yes indeed, philmac51, as we just took delivery of a new load of firewood today - winter is definitely still in force, though the days are getting a little longer already, & the spring flowers are getting ready for their upcoming performance.
