I’m a mom of 7 kiddos who love to sew. We just bought a vintage Singer model AG956003 at a thrift shop. It was just serviced and had a sample that showed it works. We’d like to know how to thread it, and the year it was made. We are going to use it! Anyone know where we can find that info? Here’s a pic of the back label and front serial no.

1946 Model 66. What you thought is the model number and what you thought is the serial number is for the motor only.

It’s threaded wrong right now so don’t even try sewing like that.
I think I have a manual in my cabinet.
I’ll check tomorrow to see if it has a threading diagram and instructions on filling the bobbin.
That’s wonderful that you are going to use it!!

Someone just posted info here a few days ago listing where to obtain instruction manuals for the old Singers. You can find info online now that you know year and model number.
I hope you will post pictures of your creations!

Thank you, friends! You all are so kind! After I posted my Q, I discovered a “Comprehensive Singer Sewing Machine Database” website. Here’s a link for anyone else interested:

      http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial

According to that, this is a 1947 model class 66. It even had a printable manual for me! I was so thankful! I ordered some class 66 metal bobbins off Amazon that other reviewers said work great in their vintage machines.

I’ll post a pic of the quilt our 4-h club sewed on my friend’s fleet of vintage machines. Using this sweetie is going to be so much fun! My 10 year old and 14 year old are super excited (my 10 year old has a 1975 Singer she’s best buddies with - she knocks out all kinds of projects with it!).

      Thanks again!

That’s super news! It’s great that the younger generation is interested and involved in sewing.
