This quilt is titled “We Are One” because so many hands helped make it. It was the 2019 fair raffle project of the Piper/Wolcott 4h club. The pieced airplanes were found at a garage sale and are circa 1929. The airplane embroidery squares were done by the owner of Sunflower Embroidery in Bonner Springs, KS. Each child in our 4-h club took turns sewing dashing on the airplane blocks using vintage singers. More hands finished the final dashing, quilting & binding. The quilt was raffled at the July 2019 Wyandotte County Fair to benefit our 4-h club. An airplane museum in Washington won the raffle and may display the quilt! Such a fun project for the kids!

This entire post is just wonderful!
I love it that the pieces from 1929 were found and finally, after all these years, put into a quilt. And for it to find it’s way into the right hands to be displayed in a museum - that makes me imagine a lady smiling down from Heaven on this special project.
Everyone who had a hand in this project should be very proud!
