Hi everyone! I recently fell in love with this desk at a local antique store and am trying to find information on how old it could be! Inside the front center drawer it has the manufacturer listed as Nordine Furniture Co. Inc. but I cannot finding any information about it online. I’m thinking 1930’s-40’s? Any help or knowledge would be appreciated! I plan on giving it some TLC when we bring it home burn would love to learn more of its history.
I believe you may find that Nordine was a furniture store that sold this desk as opposed to the company that made it. I would probably call it vintage rather than antique.
I have a similar style desk. I refer to the desk as a secretary typewriter desk; typewriter sits on the heavy duty spring loaded shelf. The door to the shelf opens to the left, vs, the drop style in pic.
Jasper Desk company, Jasper Indiana is what I was able to find on manufacturer; as I did so through the information on the lock in the center drawer.
The center drawer locks, with key, also locks bank of drawers by pushing center drawer completely.
Solid American Walnut(under years worn Mahogany stain).
23" is the depth of drawers...amazing...solid oak dovetailed drawer construction...
Call it whatever you want...I call it a mid century distressed solid wood work station...the typewriter shelf is now a laptop shelf....
