This summer I visited a really cool place here in Sweden. It is called "Nostalgibyn" whick means the nostalgy Village as you probably already figured out. It is a small but facinating place in the countryside in the middle of nowhere so to speak. After what seams to be a lite time of collecting 50's, 60's and 70's stuff and small kiosks, gasstations and pumps a couple has put i all up on their farm next to their house. It is a café and they also had a restaurant with at least a working bär and a small cinema. All stuffed with things to look at. People find their way there for a god cup of coffe, cakes, icecream and prawnsandwiches in this fantastic place of memories and nostalgy. There was a small clothes shop as well and some of the vintage clothes was for sale. I will have to ask them to sell vintage jewelry there....

I went there with my teenagers who really found it interesting. He is interested in tecnical stuff and was impressed by some old times clever solutions to things.
Unfortunately someone had played too much on the Rock-Ola jukebox so it was out of order but they were going to have it repaired so next time we will enjoy it. Because we will go there again. Even if it is a small place there were so much of interesting bits and pieces to look at so we need to go back.

I was impressed by their effort to save and show these things to the public and I can also see how genius it is for a collector to build up a small world of your favourite things and invite the rest of the world to come to yours... :)

Enjoy the photos. If you are ever around here is a link :

Thanks yougottahavestuff! It sounds very nice to have an ice cream shop a la vintage like you and your wife does. Great to do something like that together. I can't really see us do that, my husbands interest is hunting and I would not find such a shop that charming, and for him to sell jewelry with me, na.... We do things in our sparetime instead, like fishing wich I love :) We are great at buying icecream though :) :)

Oh, how wonderful this is!!!! I had no idea that you had Gulf and Esso gasoline in Sweden too. That's really pretty cool! I remember those so well as a kid.

Jscott, thanks! We did :). I also remember shell and BP. Today they look so small to me these gasstationhouses. They are original, and they could tell me exactly where they had stod before.

I am glad you enjoyed what you saw while visiting my country. What I find nice with the place of my post it what two people have done with what they have collected over a long time, without having the backup of a museum budget. That in itself has a value. It can't compete with sami artwork, viking finds and prehistoric artifacts and it doesn't have to. As much as it shows a lot of cool stuff it also shows how and what some people remember from the 50's and 60's and associate it with. It shows that they give a romantic view of that time and leave out some things that were less nice. It would be interesting for an antropologist to look at :)
