This painting is signed with monogram: an "H" and "01" or "OL". The back of the painting is notated "HOFFMAN" and "OL"(?) or "LO"(?). Also written on the back is:
EStudio Bella Mar Amaral Peixoto 154. This seems to refer to a gallery in Rio de Janiero, a gallery no longer at this address. The painting stretcher is 10 1/4" x 5 7/8". The painting has an amazing optical illusion effect: looking at it closeup it just looks like horizontal strokes of random colors. Step back and see an ocean shimmering on the horizon and waves crashing. Can't find any gallery history, can't find this monogram associated with an artist. The only HOFFMAN artist I can find associated with South America is Harry Leslie Hoffman who visited and painted British Guiana; can't find evidence this is his signature. PLEASE HELP! THANKS!
