    Kollector
    (106 items)

Cast Iron hitching Weight used to hitch a horse and buggy to when a post was not available. Weight is 10 pounds, good condition.
Made for Dietrich HEYE , store located at 407 East Commerce St. San Antonio TX.He made saddles and leather goods.
Cast in mid 1870’s by ALAMO IRON WORKS,San Antonio.. from my research they the only metal casting works in S. A.
At that time. Still in business today.

      Thanks for the note
I have a problem with . Collectors weekly. I can post receive comments...but collectorsweekly will not allow me to see any of my items..very frustrating. Not only that, when I try to send a question or contact them, after posting my name, email and a note . I click send. Then I see a red note . PLEASE LET US KNOW YOU ARE A REAL PERSON????
I am just mentioning this because of my frustration..........
In regards to the hitching weight ,my grandfather used one , just a metal weight with a loop on it.
Back in the 1870’s. I think the saddlemakers had these made and sold or given out as way of advertising .
