[Pic.1] I knew it would not go for much; the dealer had marked it as repaired. But the shape was so unusual, and the decor so rare, I decided to go for it. The Decor was identified by Warren Galle for loetz.com. Opalescent green glass with cobalt blue spots, Mine has an attached "doughnut" foot.
[Pic. 2} The repair itself is on the underside of the cup. It seems as the entire foot, above the doughnut, was broken off. It must have been a clean break for the doughnut itself is whole, so it was reattached to the vase to the body with putty and secured by a metal ring in such a way it did not violate the aesthetics of the piece. I find that stunning, given the coarseness of other repairs I have seen.
[Pic.3] No problems with the top, handles or pontil.
[[Pic. 4] A family portrait. Left and center bottom are PN identified.
They must have been quite fast on delivery! Love this piece, Al.
Awesome group shot!
