    Hi! I found this truck at an estate sale years ago. I have never been able to tell if it was a collectible or not. Could you tell me if it is? There are no names, just this label is on the top.

      No, not overly collectible as far as value, very common trunk, this style was made by many trunk makers at the time, this one is around early to mid 1880's give or take a bit. the picture/ lithograph were in almost all trunks as decorations.

      This is a barrel top travel trunk, the non black smooth tin areas were more than likely what they called crystallized tin, the finish looked somewhat like a frosted window and came in many colors but gold was the most common. the latches on the front with the clover or cross like holes were patented in 1882, that's why I said early to mid 1880's, without a makers label impossible to say who the maker was, many trunks never had labels in them at all.
