I found an odd looking nickle. I work in retail so certain coins always catch my eye. I can't even tell you how many wheat pennies I've collected. They're cool and different and I save them for my kid's. But this nickle appears to be partially made of copper. Anyone know anything about that?
Looks dirty to me. Use a pencil eraser and rub it and see if your copper shines or goes away.
I think it's stain or something, you can see a partial Fingerprint in the last photo! :^D
I actually forgot it and left it in my pocket and it went through the washer and it still looks the same. I will definitely try the eraser though. Good idea :)
I guess it could be a stain although I'm not sure what kind if that's what it is, but I would have thought going through my washing machine would've washed it away. It's a mystery lol!
what you are seeing on the coin is nothing but nickel tetracarbonyl, quite common.
Thank you for that information. I appreciate it :)
