Hi there, my grandfather was a tailor and he won the gold cup in Savile Row in the 1960s - these were his shears. I’ve got pictures of him etc. I’ve posted some photos, I just can’t seem to find any info on the Japanese scissors and the ones with Picco on them. Can anyone help please.
In picture #3 you have a pair marked Zwillingwerk. Zwilling means twins. This pair was actually made in Germany. You will find these with the word Zwillingwerk but with only one stick man or one of the twins. Their cutlery with only one twin is made in Mexico. The company has been in business since 1731 and is said to have the oldest known trademark on record in the world. In all those years their trademark has only been slightly altered six times. The pair you have bears the mark they used until 1969 when there was another slight change in the twins. I used to collect their knives and as a result I still have the data on their marks. I suspect this pair were the best in his collection because of the materials and craftsmanship that goes into making them.
