old GARDEN CITY pliers

Noticed this old pair of pliers in a friend's toolbox recently. When I picked them up and commented how cool they were, he remarked "You like those? You can have 'em, take 'em with 'ya." So I did...nobody generally ever has to tell me that twice...? ;-) :-) :-) :-)

Not absolutely certain what they were intended for, but probably for some purpose involving wire since they have 3 (all the same size, I think) notches around the hinge rivet that are machined to allow them to cut wire. [the notches line up when the pliers are open, but close like a shear when the pliers are closed] I would suspect they were more for use with wire fencing (or something more 'steel' anyway) vs. electrical wiring, if only because 2 of the 3 'shear notches' are now worn enough that they won't currently cut typical copper building wire, even after I carefully tightened up the hinge rivet just a wee bit.

They are 8" long with jaws serrated in opposing angled directions. The only marking of any kind is the words "GARDEN CITY" stamped into one handle.

One more fun old tool for the "probably won't ever actually *use* it, but it sure is nifty to *have* it" collection...?? <LOLOL> If anybody does happen to know anything about it, please be welcomed to speak up! :-) :-) :-)
