I have tried to make some sense of markings on this but don't have a clue. Would love to know what it says and identify it. I often have a guess but not for this one. It is a sweet quality little piece of art. Help is appreciated.

Try using some tracing, or tissue paper, laid flat on the bottom, and maybe tape it so it doesn't move, and the rub it with a crayon, to see if you can read the marks better, on the paper. A Rubbing! :^)

You might also try dusting the base with cinnamon then use your finger to spread it into the markings to enhance the contrast
