This is the restored Wheeled Cat Tractor, Lowboy and Power Shovel(#901) load that came in the #60 Construction Set cataloged in '62. Almost 22". This is the last type load that came on the lowboy trailer. This isn't really a member of the 500/510 tractor trailer series I've shared. However it used the tractor trailer from the#522 Air Force Bomber Transporter(last photo) cataloged in '58 so it fits in with the original series('48-'58) somewhat. This the only tractor/trailer from the 500/510 series that was offered in the 60's. This was the end of an era, the last of the all metal rubber tired Hubley's. The lowboy was used in later sets with hollow plastic tires with a more modern plastic tired truck cab. Hubley was changing to larger sized newer model trucks to compete with Tonka, Structo, Nylint, etc. It didn't help, over diversification and bad decisions resulted in Hubley being sold to Gabriel in '66. A #801 Dump Truck(not shown) also came with the set. The Power Shovel was orange/black that came with the set, but I prefer the later yellow/red version, I think it goes better with the tractor/trailer yellow.
Another masterpiece. Can't go wrong with a tractor trailer with another vehicle for a load.
Thanks a lot for the loves all.
Ftapache I love truck trailer loads also, construction equipment has got be my fave, extra play value. Auto haulers have always had an appeal to me also. In addition to trucks, I like cars(especially station wagons) with a house trailer. I had a wagon/house trailer tin plate set I absolutely loved as a kid. You've shown some trailers in your Greenlight posts that are excellent. Hubley made a station wagon, boat and trailer combo, but unfortunately no house trailers, that's a drag.
