Since Halloween is right around the corner, here are some scaredy or fraidy black cat diecuts, made by various U.S. companies, 1920s-1940s. The first is a jointed cat from the 1920s, with movable arms, legs, and tail, made by Beistle, U.S.A. (per Ledenbach, Vintage Halloween Collectibles, p. 180). The second one with orange highlighting is marked American Made, and something else we cannot make out (small print on the tail). The third one is made by Dennison Manufacturing Company, a Massachusetts firm well known for their paper toys and goods. A similar one in Lendenbach's book is dated to the 1920s. All of these have blank backs, which is typical of diecuts from this era.
Super fun and cool!
