Just wanted to share my CF Streit Beautiful Slumber Chair footrest. I do not have a matching chair, just the foot rest. I believe this was one of the first Slumber Chair styles the company made because it still had the original upholstery which I removed, a disgusting flesh colored (faded pink) leather that was stuffed with moss. The leather was also pinned with small furniture nails which I kept.
There's some documentation of the company and Slumber chairs from 1920s-50s, but I have not seen this style feet or mention of the use of moss as upholstery stuffing. I'm guessing this may be one of the earliest designs. The sticker states it was patented in the US, Canada and Argentina. The CF Streit Mfg Co was founded in Cininnatic, OH in the 1870s and is a furniture manufacturing company from Wikipedia. There are also links to the company's furniture patents. Any guess as to the age? I have reupholstered it using the original nails. Thanks!!
Just curious
