I inherited this cast iron door stop from the previous owners. A very comfortable looking feline at least 25 years old. No distinguishing marks so have no idea of maker or real age. Thanks for looking. Neil
I looked but didn't find it on doorstops.com under cats.
Hi TreasureTex. Wow there really is a web site called doorstops.com
So, even though there are similarities it looks like my cast iron cat is post 1948. Thanks for the info. Neil
Cheers ho2cultcha, Jenni, aura and kwqd for the loves. Neil
Great looking cat doorstop!! It's not listed in The Doorstop Book either. There's also doorstops.org that you may want to check out.
Hi jscott0363, well you do live and learn theres a whole new world out there full of doorstops. Unfortunately my cat wasn't in doorstops.org either. Neil
Not being on stops.com doesn't at all mean it is post 1948. It simply means it isn't in their database. If you look at the finish texture and the edges along the back side it is obvious this is from an older mold. Probably not antique but certainly vintage and doesn't show usual signs of being a reproduction. There are hundreds of unmarked stops out there. Each unmarked for different reasons. Like a company buying molds but not the original company name to brand it. Hubley is a perfect example. Stops were made from their original molds but couldn't be branded Hubley after the sale of the mold.
Thanks for the info fhrjr2. Neil
Appreciate the loves thank you kwqd, bobby725 and blunderbuss2.
