This post was inspired by this Las Vegas Council Patch I saw at the Rose Bowl last weekend. Thought it was quite clever as it looks like a classic Las Vegas marquee.
The Boy Scouts switched to this type of council patch around 1972. Before that it was white lettering on a red background just like the troop numbers. I like these they are colorful, creative and hopefully capture the spirit of the council area. The council is the next step up from the troop level. They seem to be self explanatory as they say what areas are covered on the patch.
The San Diego patch has a Spanish galleon and a rocket. San Diego was one the first of the California Spanish settlements and is known for the aerospace industry.
The Theodore Roosevelt Council is southern Arizona and New Mexico. I think the cactus gives it away. Not quite sure how Teddy fits in.
Last is the orange County California patch. It is orange. I would have put a Disneyland reference in but that is just me. Orange County is nice. You can tell where LA County ends because that is where the graffiti ends.
Really great Scout council patches fort, love that Vegas marquee
Thank you very much Newfld.
