I don't know what this thing is, but it's extremely soft and furry and a very pretty color. It reminds me of the mink collars my Aunt George [actually my grandmother's aunt] used to wear. There's a label which says 'Tres Jolie" which also decribes my great, great Aunt George. So what is it and where is it from? and when did it die? it's pretty old too, i think. 1950s?

According to what I have found the company used a great deal of BASSARISK FUR. After wondering what the hell that is I looked it up and the size of the animal and color of the fur matches with what you have shown. They look like an overgrown weasel and are native to the American southwest, Mexico, Central and South America.
