I've been collecting these for quite a while now but have seen just four basic shapes, but sometimes mounted on strutted legs. This is a fifth shape and in a very well documented Welz décor.... Harlequin Honeycomb. I narrowly missed a pair in this shape a few weeks ago. I was disappointed but remembered what someone said to me years ago......If you've seen it once you'll see it again. However in less than a month is good going, but even better this one is in a décor I didn't have in these mini vases.

Image three shows the five shapes.
Image four shows the fifth Welz shape beside a small Kralik vase. The Kralik vase is slightly taller with a round rim and a round foot.

    Height 11 cm./4.24 inches

BEAUTIFUL Welz-- one of my favorite decors!

One of my first art glass postings on cw was this decor (with the cornucopia shape).

Yes-- just wish I could assemble a few of your AMAZING GROUPINGS. The groups really make a great display.

scott, I share your enthusiasm for Welz. As to groupings I think they help folks to see the diversity of shape and décor that epitomises Welz.

Very nice find in a classic decor - it works so well with the shape. Also enjoyed the comparison with the Kralik vase in the fourth photo as it enabled me to ID a vase I've had for years in the same shape. It is a mostly red spatter.

Indeed, and it's one of the most perfectly executed examples of a honeycomb décor that I have. And hasn't the internet has worked wonders on identifying 'orphans'!

On the same wavelength - exactly!! The pair with the label? I didn't get them, but these allowed me to mentally categorise this small, hexagonal shape as Welz (I hadn't previously) and also prompted the comparison with the similar Kralik shape. I reached the same conclusions: Kralik example is taller, with round foot and rim (Welz example has hexagonal foot and rim). I have also observed the Kralik examples can be uncased.

Wow22, the pair missed by both of us was in a décor I already have in mini hex vases. This has added another Welz déccor to my collection. And finally, being in such well known Welz décor, it identifies the shape as Welz incontrovertibly!

The Kralik version I bought, hoping the seller had made an error in the height, and that it would turn out to be Welz......
