I need help with this piece. I have done some research on the retail name on the box but could not find much info. It says Fine Jewelry by Faber. I think its the original box because inside was a little label that reads
Hand tied individually knotted gold bullion tipped 14k gold clasp.
I have no idea other then bringing them to a jeweler how to tell if they are jade or something else. I am fairly good at spotting glass and I can say I'm sure that's not what these are.
So if any one has a suggestion on a way to tell that would be great!
Thanks for looking.
Hello Vintagemad,
There must be a mark on the clasp for 14k and this necklace could really be made of Jade. But, Special equipment and technique are required to identify. If you really want to know, bring it to a authorized gemological institute to have it tested. Good luck,
Yes the clasp is marked 14k. Do you think I should take it to a jeweler and have it appraised or just sell it as is without any papers? NOT TRYING TO SELL THIS ON CW. Just looking for a little advice.
You'll get the most accurate information from a gemologist. Try an AGS store or contact the GIA-GTL to submit it for testing.
