I am wondering if anyone might have information on this hutch. It has replaced hardware and it has a bow front door with beveled leaded glass with key locks. The seller said that she thinks it was refinished before she purchased it at auction. She planned on restoring it but had no time.
WHAT I THINK THIS IS ACTUALLY CALLED......
"An antique Stepback cupboard is a form of cupboard which comprises a dovetailed case, enclosed cupboards and a shelving unit on top of this construction." I looked at it in person and it has old hand cut dovetail drawers. The top portion was married and not an exact match.
Both pieces are really old but I would say the base is older. I plan to find another base that matches the top even better and change the hardware to something more antique- original.
Brief history and description
"Stepback cupboards were particularly popular at the turn of the 20th century, and many antique forms of the cupboard hail from this era. Many more can be dated to the 1800s."
Love the little bowed door, it’s very nice!
I can't see many details in the photos. Looks to have a missing drawer pull.
I can't tell the age from your photos, but interior looks new (bottom open door view).
$100 for used solid wood furniture seems reasonable enough even if it needs some work.

Thank you Mrstyndal, kwqd, Yougottahavestuff and Scottveza .
The lady said that she purchased it at auction and intended on refurbishing it but never got around to it. I assumed that it was antique because of the locks and style.
I purchased a cute antique table once that had one side of the wood unstained and newer looking, so I had it finished. Then I found out it was a bakers table and the wood was supposed to be unfinished on the underside of the table for rolling dough or something. I messed that up thinking that it was a game table and missing a game board.
I can't tell age from photos. Some photos of drawer joints, back and hardware should answer the question.

I just added a new photo. It looks like Oak and a little better than I thought.
I told her that I would come pick it up tomorrow. Thank you for the push....
