    Greetings

We would like to share a relatively uncommon genuine antique Seth Thomas "Tampa" Variant Metal Mantel Clock from circa 1910 Seth Thomas also manufactured a model called the Tampa which came in Bronze and Green Verde colors. That model was not quite as ornate as this "Variant".

    This clock features the following:

An original, ornate gold colored finished metal body with cast brass base and feet.
A Polished brass cylindrical case enclosing the movement.
A high-grade Seth Thomas number 48 round eight-day time and strike movement.
An original Seth Thomas Silvered dial in excellent condition with Arabic numerals and original hands.
Hour and Half-hour strike on a strong, resonant cathedral bell-gong.

The 4th Photo is of a Seth Thomas "Tampa" in an original "Verde Green" Finish. This is the more common metal Tampa model manufactured by Seth Thomas.

You can hear the clock strike the hour and half-hour by clicking the YouTube Link below

Would this have been a special order, BRUCE99 ??? I’ve had a look at the Tampa and it too is a beauty.

      Vetraio50,

Sorry for the delay in my response. A loved one is recovering from a broken arm and needs a lot of care.

Seth Thomas named three models the "Tampa". One was a wood cased clock which was part of the series of "City" clocks. There was the Tampa, which is a metal cased clock that is very similar in size and shape to the Tampa Variant that I've listed in my post. Here is another example called the Tampa Variant which can be found on the Internet:
      https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5588317_1017-seth-thomas-tampa-variant

It's also discussed here by several Horologists: https://mb.nawcc.org/threads/need-info-on-seth-thomas-clock.75682/#post-567202

Here is the more commonly found metal "Tampa" which has a gilded finish: http://antiqueseththomasclocks.com/Seth-Thomas-1246.php

I have one like it finished in original Verde Green.

I don't know if the "Variant" was a special order Tampa or not. I do know that it is a genuine Seth Thomas antique clock and that it is relatively rare. I hope that answers your questions. If not, please fire away with more.

      Thank you,

      Bruce
