Came across this nifty little book today while looking for something else, I think it came to me years ago along with (one of the boxfuls of) assorted sheet music and books I've accumulated over the years otherwise.

This is "PLAYING THE HAMMOND ORGAN" "ELEMENTARY INSTRUCTION BOOK", a 46 printed page spiralbound volume with a copyright date of 1936 on its title page. Complete and in great condition for its age, though the pages and covers have inevitably yellowed somewhat.

It is a mostly technical little volume (though does contain small bits of actual music as 'exercises') generally intended to introduce "novice" players to the peculiarities of the HAMMOND electric organ, itself a relatively new music making device at the time. Its chapters are devoted much more to explaining physically how to manipulate the controls of the instrument vs. actually playing music on it, that much seems to mostly be assumed by the writers.

      Perhaps Keith Emerson read that.

Fort, it's entirely possible of course, but somehow I doubt he would have needed to...Emerson (etc.) ended up playing the Hammond organ in a way that Laurens Hammond himself would likely *never* have imagined... ;-) :-)
