Trying to I.D. This Makers Mark that is located on this Old Riffle barrel I found. No Names appear on it just this symbol. And ideals or direction to where I can find information would be Greatly appreciate. The last Picture is of the Whole Barrel. Notice the tipsite appears to be not lined up with the top site, or is it a holder for a bayonet????

Need a pic of the whole rifle. I can't ID it by just pix of the sight.

You only have the barrel ? It has what appears to be a serial # & proof mark at the breech end, but I can't see them clearly.
    4. mikeigotit mikeigotit, 5 years ago
Yes just the Barrel. The Serial # Reads as Follows:H4777 It also has an image that is a Circle with a smaller circle inside and connected by 4 lines.

What really puzzles me, is the rear sight is 180 degrees from the front sight. Does the rear sight sleeve rotate around the barrel ? I'm not coming up with a match so far. A gunsmith is probably the best bet. They rebarrel guns & know diff. barrels a lot better than me.

That's what I was wondering about the front site being off to the side. It's on their Tight. Won't rotate
      by hand.

Yeah, looks like the rear sight assembly is 180 degrees out of alignment. How long is the entire barrel and how long are the threaded area and the raised area next to it? It resembles an 1891 Argentine Mauser barrel except that the M1891 has a band the front sight fits into.

If it was an 1891 Argentine Mauser barrel, not saying it is, it would have been made in 1894....
