I really enjoy finding Harrach's enameled crackle glass; I own a few floral pieces that I love, and have also owned pieces with seaweed and fish in aquatic scenes that were very interesting. So, I was very happy to come across this mirrored pair that feature flowers and a butterfly on each. Often the pieces I have owned are in the warm color 'Topaz' but this pair has a more greenish yellow tone to the glass.
The pair measure 7 inches tall (17.8cm), and have smooth bases without pontils, as they were cut from the top. These date to about c.1890.
I have another Harrach crackle vase, in the topaz color, here if you'd like to see it: https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/150156-harrach-topaz-crackle-bowl-with-nasturti
Very nice pieces. Congratulations.
Thanks so much, Ales!
A stunning true pair Michelle.
Painting a reverse image would take some skill I would imagine, when artists generally painted the same scene repeatedly.
On beautiful glass too.
Stunning! Love the way that the enamel decoration sits so perfectly with the colour & texture of the glass - muted & naturalistic.
Beautiful work, nice find Michelle!
Thank you Karen - I am so glad you like them! :)
Thank you IronLace! I agree with you; the enameling is more muted in color than many seen by Harrach, and I think it goes very well with the glass, too.
Thanks Brian! Glad you like them! :)
Wonderful additions to your collection! The crackle glass background brings the feel of a garden to the vases.
Thank you, Peggy! I agree - it does! :)
