I found this old cabinet today in Berkeley. I think it's made of oak with redwood as the secondary wood. it has all square hand-cut nail construction. I think that the sawmill marks under the drawers indicate an 1880 date. The backside is finished, so was meant to be seen. There is a very warn surface under the fold-down top piece which can slide off it easily. What do you think this piece is? My guess is that it's some kind of general store cabinet for something - paper maybe?
i guess it is a dental cabinet after all.
