She was my grandmother's aunt and she lived till she was 98, supported herself very well and helped raise my grandmother and sisters when their mother died. Some of my oldest memories are when we got all dressed up in our best clothes and went over to her victorian house filled with victorian furniture for a Sugar-on-snow Party. We would be served little juice cocktails with umbrellas and glass twizzlers in them and we'd get to eat sugar-on-snow - which was maple syrup boiled up to crystalizing and then poured on fresh snow and allowed to harden. i still love the stuff! She never married, despite having a number of suitors. She was a well-known, very talented seamstress who did work for very wealthy clients - and all of her beautiful nieces - the Morin Sisters of whom the youngest was my Memere.
